Wrestling Star Jim McGrath made a career of his sport as competitor and coach

McGrath in 1958 as a sophomore with coach Floyd Kenyon (left) and school district chairman Hugh Jack. Jim wrestled at about 103 pounds.

Jim McGrath, class of 1960, was the star of our wrestling team. Looking for a college to attend, Jim and about eight other Division grads "discovered" Wayne State in Nebraska. Most had never been west of Brooklyn until heading to Nebraska and some of them graduated. Jim and Mike Caldararo remained in the Cornhusker State, became teachers and are now retired. McGrath is the most successful wrestling coach in the state's history and a tournament is named for him. He is a motorcycle enthusiast among other activities in his retirement in the Omaha area.
