San Diego is one of America's best summer-vacation getaways. Vivian and your blogger Frank Barning (class of 1960), escaped the Las Vegas heat for a week with their son Randy who lives in steamy Austin, Texas. They are pictured in front of a statue of Vice Admiral Clifton Farragut, with the USS Midway in the background. The famous aircraft carrier is now used as a museum in San Diego harbor.
